Boys Football - Elgin League Cup Final
Royal Russell U15As 4-0 Bede’s U15As
On a beautiful Saturday morning in Horsham, the U15As finished off an outstanding season with an emphatic 4-0 to be crowned Elgin League U15s 23/24 Champions.
The game started well as Evan Newman was a constant threat in behind the Bede’s defence and probably should have won a penalty. However, it was Bede’s who got a foothold in the game and Lucas Cheung was on hand to prevent any goals being conceded. Zac Brennan then picked the ball up in midfield, weighted a perfect pass to the run of Cameron Anderson-Green who exquisitely finished off the crossbar and into the top corner, 1-0.
The boys knew they needed to step up another gear in the 2nd half and they did exactly that. Cameron was fouled inside the box and captain Zac Brennan coolly slotted home to make it 2-0. It was soon 3 when Zac was involved again playing another perfectly weighted pass to Tom Scarles who had the composure under pressure to calmly slot home, 3-0. Fresh legs played pivotal in what was a very hot morning. We had that in abundance as Karson Tsai, Charles Hayden de Carbonneires, Harvey Wright-Phillips and Zachariah Osu all brought a new energy off the bench. This led to our 4th and final goal. Charles held the ball up well, played in Stanley Moore whose inch perfect pass found Tom Scarles who finished cleverly to get his 2nd and Russell’s fourth.
A deserving way to cap off an incredible season with a trophy for this group of players. Congratulations to everyone involved not only in the final but all season.
