The Arsenal Independent Schools Trophy U14s

On Wednesday afternoon the U14s football team travelled to the prestigious Arsenal training ground in Hale End to compete in The Arsenal Independent Trophy.

The first game saw the team play well vs Buckswood but couldn’t find an opening with Nicholas Parris coming closes hitting the post. 0-0

The 2nd game saw the team move the ball well playing some good football. However, a mistake saw Rossall take the lead through a penalty. The team continued to play but couldn’t get an equaliser. 0-1

The 3rd game saw a combination of both tired legs and a game of very few chances. This led to yet another 0-0 vs UCS Hampstead. 0-0

We lost the 4th game to eventual winner Hampton 1-0. There was an early mistake which led to a Hampton goal. The team started slow and this allowed Hampton to take ascendency. However, the last 10mins Kian Miller and Finlay Bashford in particular in midfield started to move the ball well but we couldn’t get that decisive equaliser. 0-1

It looked like we just weren’t going to score on the day, as in the last game we created numerous clear-cut chances but just couldn’t seem to find the net. However, in the last 5 minutes Kyle Dalling done well to cross low and Justin Jervis finished off the post. 1-0

A great experience for the boys playing at The Arsenal training ground with plenty of positives. Joseph Soya-Bongay, George Thomas and Santiago Black at the back showed their qualities with Lucas Brown behind them. Kian Miller and Finlay Bashford looked good in midfield. Keyaan Davison looked a threat with his 1vs1 dribbling and all in all a fantastic day out for the boys.
