U13As 7 a side tournament

The U13As off the back of their excellent ESFA Cup win on Monday, finished the week by winning the 7 a side tournament. This was hosted by ourselves on a beautiful Saturday morning at our excellent facilities of which the grounds team done a fantastic job.

Caden Serville got the only goal to beat Westminster in the first game after great play from Justin Jervis.

The 2nd game saw a close contest between the boys and St Thomas’ Clapham which finished 0-0.

Bickley Park beat the U13s 1-0 in the 3rd play despite the boys actually playing some good football and deserving more from the game.

Russell 13s then faced Russell 12s in the last group game. Israel Djan gave the U12s the lead a bit against the run of play. This didn’t dampen the U13s spirits as they continued to pass the ball and got their reward. Xavier Mahdi done excellently well to find Caden Serville to tap home 1-1.

Semifinal:

This meant the 2 Royal Russell teams played a couple minutes later in the semifinals after finishing 2nd and 3rd. Harry Payne scored to put us 1-0. A penalty was then rewarded to the U12s. Stand in GK Luke Bannon not only produced a great save but also saved the follow up tremendously. Caden Serville then sealed the win to send the U13s into the final winning 2-0.

Final:

We encountered Bickley Park in the final of which was the only team to have beaten us in the group. Russell dominated possession with Kailan Patel, Ollie Pritchard and Sam Hubbard influential and having a great game. However, it was Xavier Mahdi who done tremendous on the right to cross and captain Harry Payne improvised well with an excellent flick at the near post. Despite Sam Hubbard coming close with a great strike that hit the post, it finished 1-0.

Some excellent football from the boys and a great finish to the week. They now have one last important game before we break up for half term as they take on St John’s Leatherhead in the ISFA Cup on Monday.
