Boys Football - U13As
Lingfield 9-4 Royal Russell
Royal Russell U13As started really slowly in the first half against a strong Lingfield team which in the end cost them dearly. There was many sloppy passes in the Royal Russell defensive third and this allowed Lingfield to pounce constantly and punish Royal Russell by taking a 6-0 lead at half time. Despite the result at half time Xavier Mahdi was a constant threat up front and so was Keeyan Davison, Louis Curror and Justin Jervis. Royal Russell had chances but couldn’t capitalise in a frustrating 1st half.
The 2nd half didn’t start much better as Royal Russell conceded another 3 to see the score at 9-0. However, Royal Russell then showed pride and character and started to play with a competitive edge they needed from the start. Juste Jervis pressed high up and scored to make it 9-1. The impressive Xahier Mahdi then hit a great diagonal pass and a Keeyan Davison cut it and struck a great effort into the far corner 9-2. Sam Hubbard then won the ball high up with his pressing and Justin Jervis got his 2nd goal 9-3. The final goal game when Justin Jervis found Keeyan Davison who finished well 9-4.
The boys showed a lot of character especially in the last 20 minutes showing what they are capable of when they compete, and play to their standards. A positive reaction winning the 2nd half 4-3 after a disappointing first 40 minutes to the game.
A lot of learning for the young boys but also a lot of positives from their reaction.
