Invariably it is difficult to find solace in performances when results are not favourable but the team must look to the fact that we are making progress in so many aspects of the game both as a team and individually.
Richard Challoner proved to be a big, strong and physical side but the organisation and spirit of our side was commendable and we rose to the challenge in a way which showed that team is united and prepared to work hard to be competitive.
Although we had to come behind on both occasions in the first half, we did so with spirit and determination; Dara David Adjibola made an excellent contribution as a makeshift striker and got a deserved equaliser at 1-1 after we had conceded from long range due to not pressing the ball high enough up the field.
The team fell behind again to a headed goal which highlighted a collective weakness in the team which is challenging in the air and winning headers but our spirt never flagged and Malaki Hanson dragged us bag into the game with a remarkable driving run which began with an interception just outside his own penalty area and finished with him slotting home a goal to put us level at 2-2.
Remarkably the team have not been behind at half time all season and this was the case for the fifth time in competitive matches!
Unfortunately our fate in the second half has been a drop off in intensity and concentration which perhaps questions our fitness but certainly not our intent. We fell behind again mid way through the second half to another long range shot and, although we fought bravely, the continuity in midfield and our inability to provide good service to our strikers meant we lacked a goal threat and the team began to soak up more pressure as the opposition came onto us with real intent. Despite this pressure the team never gave up and continued to work as hard as they could to stay in the game; unfortunately a last minute counter attack led to us conceding again as we pushed for an equaliser and the game was over; the last goal provided a flattering score line to our adversaries but in reality this was a much closer game than the 2-4 score line suggests.
Lots of positive things to see in this performance and we will continue to make progress, especially if we can regularly field a full strength side.
