On Monday the mighty U13 B team braved the hail, thunder and lightning, travelling to central London to play Westminster.
We started brightly and with Maxi Kimber solid in goal, captain Isa Zubair in defence, initiating attacks though Will Norman in midfield, our strikers, especially Maxi O’Neal looked eager for goals.
Sure enough Maxi capitalised on some good work from Sebastian Danciu to tuck the ball away.
Seb then hit a post and Max Clements had a couple of long range efforts that were either saved or went over the bar.
Sofyan Ghuwel showed good footwork and tricky running, but as is often the case on a difficult surface, we struggled to get the ball out from under our feet to get shots away with power and accuracy.
Westminster were unlucky on a couple of occasions too. Similar issues to ourselves.
Some changes at half time and some direct feedback to players (shoot first!) prompted a bit of a change of attitude.
Will Dunn had a number of good runs on the right wing, Walter Hancock chased back hard in defence and Maxi O kept working!
Sofyan made a goal for himself, running hard onto a through ball from Jack McDowell and shooting accurately past their keeper.
Maxi got his second following up from a shot from Will N and blasting the ball into the roof of the net. He then got his hat trick, dribbling past several players and slotting home. Seb was unlucky not to get on the end of an excellent cross from Sofyan.
Will N finished things off with a great hit that their keeper could only semi-parry.
A good win.
We go again against Oxted on 3 February
