Match Report
Royal Russell School Boys-U13B vs  Homefield School, Surrey Boys-U13A
On: Monday, 07 Oct 2024
Venue: at Home

The mighty 13B's finally got a run out against Homefield's A team after having both the scheduled matches cancelled thanks to the awful weather.

So as with any first match of the year, there was a lot of excitement and we started off strongly trying to string together passes and penetrate into dangerous areas for our strikers to capitalise.

A lack of width was hindering us in attack, yet we seemed to defend with more width! Perhaps against the run of play, Homefield took the lead and then got a second when we tried to play out from the back without options to do so.

Until then the players had been working hard for each other and trying to create.

Will Norman's industry and strength up front was proving to be awkward for their defence and it was Will that struck back just before half-time to get us back in the game. A raft of changes at the break should have given us greater energy which would have been a fair trade for less familiarity, but it was Homefield who struck first to extend their lead.

We then had Sebastian Danciu hit the underside of the bar with a rocket and from excellent corner deliveries by Maxi Kimber, we hit both uprights and Seb misdirected a header (but did brilliantly to get to that spot in the first place). If any 2 of these chances go in, then we are level and it's game on! Instead, Homefield scored again to give the scoreline a lopsided feel. Plenty to work on and numbers at training have been great so lets continue with that!
