Match Report
Royal Russell School Boys-U15B vs  Wilson's School

Venue: at Home

A game of 2 halves? It always is, but why don’t we start like we played in the second?

Wilson’s always come to play football, but the mighty 15B’s can play a bit too and with our wingers Guillaume de Rijk and Marcus Chan full of running either team could have opened the scoring.

However, too often we put ourselves under pressure, not clearing the ball effectively, almost passing to an opponent. One such clearance fell to one of their players on the edge of the box, we didn’t close him down, he shot and hit the crossbar. We didn’t react and another of their players picked up the rebound and lobbed the otherwise excellent Milo Wilson. 10 mins later, same story as we gift them the ball, don’t shut down space and their right wing slams the ball past a stranded Milo. We are in the game, but letting it slip away. Special mention to Sam Hubbard who guested for us in that first half. We’re sorry you didn’t see our true nature Sam.

Second half and a slight shuffle with Izehi Obyasi finally out of bed and Dubem Okonkwo given license to terrorise saw the team claw their way back into the match.

Izehi linked well with Guillaume who crossed perfectly for Izehi to head home.

2-1 let’s go! The effort from the team in that second half was excellent. Captain Xoel Barcia Akande led by example Ralph Lawson played well in midfield and Dilanesh Sanyasi was his usual tricky self.

As Wilson’s resorted to a low-low block and attempted to “park the bus”, we had corner after corner. VAR might have helped us when from one attempt, we appeared to have scrambled the ball

Over the line, or did we? The ref didn’t give it and Wilson’s cleared. We had a couple of heart-in-mouth moments at the other end but Milo came out bravely and the pressure was back on them.

The final whistle came too soon for us wand their cheers showed what pressure we had put them under.
