Match report:

Royal Russell 2nd XI 1 vs 2 Wilson’s 1st XI

In a game between Royal Russell 2nd XI and Wilson’s 1st XI, our team initially struggled to find their footing. Wilson’s played with high energy, pressing us hard, and we didn't seem confident. They scored first, putting us at a 1-0 deficit.

However, our boys rallied back impressively. It all started with a clever pass from Timothy Yang, followed by amazing energy, first touch, and dribbling by Lorcan Oliver. The movement of Robele Nalbo allowed us to progress up the pitch. Finally, Nalbo delivered a precise cross into the box, setting up Zac Raccine, who hammered the ball into the net. This goal showcased exceptional teamwork.

Post-goal, we showed significant improvement—more aggression, better ball speed, and quicker reactions. But Wilson’s managed to score from a corner with a header. Although frustrating, collectively, it was our best performance in heading the ball. Missing the player on the back post highlighted an area for improvement.

The game opened up for us after that, creating chances that unfortunately didn't end in goals.

Lorenzo Shone was outstanding as the player of the match. He exhibited bravery by challenging opponents one-on-one goal scoring opportunity's, displayed confidence in communicating with teammates and showcased his class by saving a critical penalty. His last-ditch effort prevented the ball from crossing the line, giving the team a much-needed boost.

Overall, it was a good performance from the team, but the disappointment lingers as we didn’t clinch the win.
